  Avalon Hunting Preserve
4500 S. 14500 E.
Randlett, Utah 84066
(435) 722-2009
Cell (435) 823-6884

Few words carry more excitement than, "Hurry, the dog's on point!" It's unlikely anyone will ever know whether the excitement is genetic or an acquired attribute. Who Cares? It's bird hunting and it is glorious. Course', if you want to hunt birds, it is nice to have birds to hunt. That's where we come in. Avalon Hunting Preserve is situated on 1500 acres of irrigated farmland and natural cover in the Ouray Valley. The hunting ground is level with fields interspersed with overgrown canal banks, fence rows, willows and sagebrush. It is hunting country in every sense of the word.
While Pheasants, Chukars and Quail are the main attraction, Dove hunting can also be enjoyed during Utah's September season. Harvested grain fields attract plenty of Geese from Pelican Lake, which lies a bit over a mile to the south, adding to the gunning excitement during waterfowl season. You may see a Deer or two and Antelope in the fields during your visit.
You won't see lots of traffic, long lines or the air you breathe. You will see peace and quiet, and you and the dog will make it a day to remember. We'll have ammunition if you need it and snacks to tide you over. Lunch is waiting a few miles down the road at the café. If you would like, we'll clean your birds while you eat.

Over The Hill RV Park

Hanna, UT 84031
Phone: 435-848-5405
Located on Scenic Highway 35, Wolf Creek Pass Mile Post 38

Danny & Carole Fabrizio own  "Over the Hill" RV Park. The property where the RV Park is located has been in the Fabrizio family for many years. It used to be the home of the Hanna Rodeo. It has entertained many of the locals as the "Swimming Hole" because of the great location next to the river. For a time it was a cattle pasture. It has always been a great place for family picnics.  In general it has always been a place where you could just sit by the river, listen to running water and dream. The beauty of this land makes it a natural place for an RV Park.  In 2003 plans began....the electricity, and sewer and water lines were installed, the following year grass was planted and a pavilion was built. In 2004 the Fabrizo's started to welcome guests.  As you can tell from the year established we are a somewhat new business.  New facilities are being added on an as needed, and can "afford" basis. We would love to have you as our guest.

  The Petroglyph Flute

Legend states the Indian Love Flute holds the power for attraction and was used to enhance courtship. Throughout the wedding night the flute could be heard playing.
Cedar wood was traditionally used to carve the flutes. Why? Cedar trees hold a special meaning. These trees have a shallow root system. In order to grow strong, their roots must intertwine with other Cedar tree roots for support, and to withstand adverse weathering conditions. This support system was meaningful to Native Americans. Just as the Cedar tree has a network of family support, so did the Indian Tribe. The Cedar tree has always represented the family, and like a Cedar tree, one was never alone.
Music from the Indian Love Flute is a part of our natural surroundings. It evokes a feeling one might have when out on a calming mountain or ocean retreat.. The appealing music you hear is an appendage to the beauty of life which surrounds us. Richard believes when you hear the peaceful music, you will be touched for the better as he has.
The Petroglyph Flute: As a very big part of my Native American heritage, I have always enjoyed rock art. There are many places which display rock art, in the area I live, such as: Nine Mile Canyon, Uinta Canyon, White Rocks, the Book Cliffs, and all over the reservation. Rock art I value the most are the ones shown to me by my Father, who's Father showed them to him, who's father (my great grandfather) showed them to him. Stories like these are what makes my native heart what it is. I live today not to forget my great ancestor's past, and would like to share it with those who want a better understanding. I feel that if I can take and carve a small part of a story on the end of a flute, this will allow, not only the flute to live on, but possibly some of the spirit within it. When the petroglyph flute is played from your heart, the spirit of the Indian people will be felt in your life as well as those around you.

Llama pack trips: Take a guided, backcountry pack trip with llamas in the Ashley National Forest, South Unit; Browns Park on the Green River; or the San Rafael Swell. Three types: 1) fully catered, 2) "backpacker support" trips--we handle the llamas and you bring and cook your own food, and 3) learn-to-pack trips--either you learn how to pack with and care for llamas in the backcountry using our llamas, or you can bring your own trained, but "green," llamas on their first real pack trip to learn from our llamas (these trips can be catered or not).
Educational day hikes: A four-five hour activity hiking with llamas allows you to get away, and experience and learn about this beautiful, high desert area called the Uintah Basin. Hikes can be taken in the Red Creek Narrows near our farm or in the South Unit of the Ashley National Forest (both in Duchesne County). Lunch on the trail is included.
Farm visits: Families and groups of various types visit us and the llamas every year. It's a fun, educational outing where you get to meet and learn about llamas in a beautiful canyon setting. Our llamas are gentle, and love to eat treats and take walks with our guests. We provide a nutritious lunch. Our facilities are wheelchair accessible.
Learn to pack with llamas clinics: In addition to special pack trip clinics mentioned above, we also offer one-day clinics at our farm. We cover care, practical training methods, and spend time hiking and going through a certified pack llama obstacle course. It's fun and by the end of the day, you'll know what you and pack llamas can do together and how to do it.
The South Unit of the Ashley National Forest, Browns Park, the San Rafael Swell, and the Red Creek Canyon where we're located are four uniquely beautiful, but relatively undiscovered areas in Utah. Experiencing them with llamas makes getting there and being there just that much better. Hiking with llamas is relaxing, healthy exercise, without the strain of carrying a heavy pack. And you'll breathe some of the cleanest air in the 50 states.
Llamas have been the helpful companions of man and woman for centuries. They carried the treasures of both the Inca kings and the goods of the poorest campesinos in ancient times; they still carry products to market for Andean mountain communities. They will lighten your load on an educational day hike with lunch or packing days worth of gear (and fresh, not dried food!) into the backcountry. With their soft feet, they will leave only slightly more trace of their passing there than you.
Rosebud Llamas Utah includes 40 acres located in western Duchesne County, 4.3 miles south of Hwy. 40 on the road to the Strawberry Pinnacles. It's a beautiful drive of under two hours from Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo and Vernal.
Your Guides and owners of Rosebud Llamas Utah are Shirley Weathers and Bill Walsh. Both have years of experience hiking, backpacking, camping, skiing and biking in Utah's deserts and mountains.
Since nature deserves respect, all of our events are carried out to minimize impact on the environment. Rosebud Llamas Utah is an official "Partner" in the national Leave No Trace Program and we begin each trip with an orientation designed to ensure "leave no trace" llama-assisted journeys into the backcountry. We expect all guests will share our commitment to this goal.
Get in touch soon to arrange a trip or activity (all are by appointment) or to get more information.
